Bangalore Bicycle Championship 2022 – Downhill
Bangalore days for June were scheduled. Third Sunday of each month is time for ‘Bangalore Bicycle Championship‘. The BBCh includes Road and Cross Country mountain bike races and one downhill race each season. The DH race however hasn’t been a regular entry on the calendar. But for 2022, the BBCh team decided to go ahead with the DH race!

Local crank heads Anish Joseph and Ignatius Chen were at full force on the Avathi Hills trail to build up a new and challenging course for the BBCh 2022 Downhill race. To make things interesting I decided to race in the hardtail class this year on my new Psynyde Furan. A trail stacked with boulders, slabs and steep rock faces, the new Avathi hills course was anything but suited for a hardtail! In that case, I surely had to race the hardtail!

Participants from Hyderabad, Cochin, Goa and Bengaluru strapped the race numbers on the hill top, ready to clock our best times for the weekend. With a ‘Best of two runs’ format, the race was all about having fun down the hill. For the weekend I pulled the top spot in the hardtail class and an overall third best time of the day!

All this on an INDIAN bicycle, our very own PSYNYDE FURAN!

A big shout out to Anish Joseph and team for including DH in the BBCh calendar this year. Thanks to Ignatius Chen and Yashas Shekhar for building up a rough and challenging course down the boulder laden Avathi hill. High five to all the riders and volunteer friends who took their Sunday out and shared great times in the peaceful hills.
