T.T.D.C Mtn Bike Recreational Park, Ooty

India’s first ever Mountain Bike Park in one of the most beautiful mountain getaways of the country, Ooty in Tamil Nadu, located in the Western ghats at a height of 2240m. In collaboration with the TamilNadu State Tourism Development Corporation and TI Cycles India, our team designed and created a mountain bike playground for the masses.

One of the fastest growing sports in the world would surely include mountain biking in the mix. Its evolution from being, a simple form of riding a bicycle off-road to the current insanity that’s been unleashed in the form of Big Mountain Freeriding and Slopestyle is as significant as invention of the bicycle itself. During this entire reformation process our sport saw the NorthShore movement stirred by the artists who called themselves trail builders. Their efforts have inspired a lot of the new trail builders around the world to go on and create more challenging and stunning trails out in the woods, in parks, in their very own backyards.

Soon enough the vibes of the revolution had to hit this part of the globe. Resulting in India’s first ever Mountain Bike Park in one of the most beautiful mountain getaways of the country, Ooty in TamilNadu. One of the highest peaks in Southern India, its located in the Western ghats at a height of 2240m. Ooty (Udhagamandalam) is the headquarters of the Nilgiris district. In collaboration with the TamilNadu State Tourism Development Corporation and TI Cycles India, our team designed and created the first of its kind mountain bike playground for the masses.

The track delivers an enthralling experience for all, right from an average vacationer to the seasoned mountain bikers of the country. Consisting of three levels, Beginners thru Experts, a rider could find simple tabletop jumps, whoops, single jumps, wall rides, low skinnies and also some teeter-totters! The 700mts of trail consists of extremely safe obstacles with safety mesh barricades and foam-padded trees, keeping in mind the inexperienced riders who would also have access to these trails.

Having a trail setup like this here in India, would surely open doors to many more mountain bike recreational parks across the country!
It’s been a great ride being involved in the changing face of the sport in a cricket crazy nation.

Thanks to the TamilNadu State Tourism Development Corporation and TI Cycles India, for stirring this long awaited movement in the field of Indian mountain biking.

    • I don’t think it is operational any more. Last time I visited OOTY in oct (u can check my comment above to ask for any contact details) mainly to visit this place but it was not operational and for uncertain period of time because of some contract/lease issue, as told by the locals.

    • Hey Nithin, I’d designed this park, 10 years ago. Last I heard about it, it was open to visitors in 2014-15. Not sure if it’s still functioning.
