Indian National Downhill Championship 2021

A new year and a new venue for the Indian National MTB Championship. This year, Gadag, Karnataka was chosen for the three day racing action comprising of Cross Country and Downhill races. After getting an approval from the Cycling Federation of India and Karnataka State Cycling Association, to build the Downhill race course, the winningest downhill racer of India, Gautam Taode and I got digging.

I was visiting Gadag with Gautam just to work on the available terrain and ride em bikes with buddies. The same race weekend I had to be in Ladakh for the Ladakh Winter Conclave to share my ideas about mountain biking and ways to develop the sport in the region. Due to the short stay in Gadag, I didn’t race the Nats but rode the short 400mts course from dawn till dusk while the smooth photographer from Bengaluru – Praveen Jayakaran kept that camera shutter buzzing.
